97年の『Share My World』とライブ盤で、ヒップホップ・ソウル・シンガーとして、ひとまず、燃え尽きたようなメアリー。その後、発表した今作では、目元の傷を晒したジャケットが伝えるように、きょそくを取り払った素のメアリーの会える。
『My Life』に通じる内省的な面もあるが、生楽器を多用し、ローリン・ヒルが手がけた冒頭の”All That I Can Say”を筆頭に、人肌のぬくもりを感じさせるメロウは楽曲が多数。アレサ・フランクリンやK-Ciとデュエットし、エルトン・ジョンらが客演するなどゲストも豪華だ。
